About the artists
Elizabeth is a Canadian artist and educator. The encouragement and support of her parents reinforced her passion for the visual arts. Elizabeth is a versatile mixed media artist whose creative expression evolves through her use of various paints; water color, alkyd, and acrylic. Her unique techniques often incorporate resin and wood burning. Elizabeth describes her artistic style as eclectic. The addition of various materials add texture, detail and dimension. Elizabeth is inspired by nature and captures the beauty she experiences in her artwork. Multiple ideas are often combined using artistic license to create a composition. The versatility of her art encompasses everything from reality to abstract. Each piece of artwork is not only a challenge but an exciting adventure. Art is immeasurable and her vision emanates from the soul. Her aspiration is to immerse the viewer in the visual experience and to inspire a sense of meaning. Elizabeth's belief is that enjoying and appreciating the creative process as the artist or the viewer is an essential component that balances the life experience.
Arthur's career spanned over 30 years in the aerospace and computer industries. His professional knowledge and skill encompassed aircraft mechanics, electronics, computer hardware maintenance, software development, and management. Thanks to the mentorship of Elizabeth's father, who was a carpenter by trade, Arthur honed his woodworking skills. Arthur often makes frames out of reclaimed wood for Elizabeth's paintings. He learned his woodturning skills from Stuart Batty and is grateful for the dramatic improvement in his wood turnings thanks to the techniques he acquired. Arthur has been working with wood, steel, stone, cement, and a variety of other materials since he was a young boy. He enjoys the challenge and experience of creating something from raw materials by applying the diverse skills he has learned throughout his career. He especially enjoys exposing the beauty hidden within trees through his wood-turning and often enhances the beauty of the grain and shape with resin. In addition to his work with wood, his knowledge of sandcarving provides him with the skills to carve photos and text into granite tiles. Paying tribute to people by allowing them to save their history, photos, memories and DNA in the time capsules he creates is something he considers to be his greatest achievement and legacy.
Both Elizabeth and Arthur have taken up lapidary in the past couple of years, and are dabbling in wire wrapping and making jewelry. Don't be surprised to find polished stones in their creations.
